Minnesota – A witness called police after she noticed a young girl standing outside alone in below freezing temperatures, according to reports. Investigators say the temperature was below 5 degrees when they received the phone call.
When authorities arrived at the scene, a 4-year-old girl was found outside without a coat on.
“Punishing a child by putting them outside in single digit temperatures is obviously not OK,” – Officer Aaron Machtemes said.
“So we are trying to determine if that’s what happened.”
The witness told police that the girl was being punished for screaming in class and had been put outside for time-out. It is unclear how long the girl was outside but police reports indicated that she did not need any medical attention.
The incident is under investigation.
